I tried and it didn't work with School of Hard Knocks and Hail To The King, Baby, so it's probably impossible with other achievements too.

That wording and ability to summon orphans past event's end lead to a conclusion that you can still complete them.

Achievements are worded "with your orphan out".

People who completed Dalaran orphan quest last year were not able to do it this year.

Blizz should make those NPCs permanent or despawn whistles and orphans at event's end too. Orphans allow you to do their quests, but at least in Dalaran's case the Matron disappears when the event ends and you can't return your orphan. It's confusing to keep these things out of sync.

Whistles have duration of 7 days and can call your orphan even after the event ends, but this is of little practical use.

Or even worse: complete the objective and realise that your orphan is not out, because you were killed meanwhile (really annoying problem that should be solved). Battlegrounds are chaotic and you may end up waiting over 2 hours in queue (not sure how they can solve it, but this is a problem) and still being unable to complete the objective.

Start doing School of Hard Knocks early.
